CASE STUDY NO. 07
 
 
 
                           Young Joey's adder was rather short.
                         'It should be much longer,' he often thought.
                       His father mocked, 'What's that little worm?'
                     A heartless taunt that made Joey squirm.
                   So he hid her away in a pencil box
                 Which he carefully lined with old woollen socks.

              Doctor Robert's the right man to know
            How to encourage a grass snake to grow.
          So Joey brought her to A & E.
          (That's CASUALTY to you and me.)
           Nurse Jack said, 'You did right to fetch her.
            Quick, somebody! Call for a stretcher.'

             'I'm here,' called the doc, dressed in surgical purple,
              'Break out the rack and hand me a scalpel.'
               Her thin snaky screams were heard in Ward 2
                By a crying hyena and a flying emu.
               But before young Joey could take her away,
             The hospital manager said, 'Now you must pay! '

           But it all goes to show what mad doctors can do,
         'Cos now Joey's adder is seven feet two!
